Wedding Timeline/ Checklist

Immediately after your Engagement

  • Discuss a budget, size and style with your parents or the ones that participating in the cost of your wedding. They deserve a say-so in your plans, since after all they are paying for your dream wedding
  • Pick your wedding date, place and time (refer to “You’re Engaged…. Now what?” Blog)
  • Register at all local bridal registries

 

6 months before your Wedding

  • Place your engagement announcement in your local news paper
  • Shop Great Expectations Bridal and Formal Consignment Boutique for your perfect dress
  • Select your color scheme and style of your wedding and pick out your bridesmaid dresses and tuxedos for your groom and groomsmen
  • Start thinking about honeymoon places and budget. If traveling outside the country make sure you have a passport and it is up to date.

 

4 months before your Wedding

  • Complete the guest list
  • Order wedding invitations
  • Get estimates on flowers, music, food and so forth
  • Reserve your venue for both the wedding and reception if at 2 separate locations
  • Order wedding bands

 

2 months before your Wedding

  • Mail wedding invitations
  • Make appointments for hair, makeup, spray tan and nails
  • Purchase your bridal accessories from Great Expectations – jewelry, veil, shoes
  • Buy a “thank you” gift for your bridesmaids and flower girl, ring bearer
  • Make accommodations for any out of town guests
  • Finalize rehearsal dinner

2 weeks before your Wedding

  • Get your marriage license
  • Mail wedding invitations
  • Make appointments for hair, makeup, spray tan and nails
  • Finalize photographer, DJ, florist, caterers, limo, etc
  • Give a final guest count and sitting arrangements to caterer (if you are having a sit down catered dinner. Not necessary if serving buffet style)
  • Confirm final payment on anything that required a deposit and you were making payments

1 week before your Wedding

  • Make final payment on honeymoon
  • Prepare a “bag” for anything that you may need on your wedding day (medicine, bottled water, snacks, safety pins, band aids)
  • Breathe!
  • Enjoy your time with family and friends!

 

Wedding Day

  • Wake up, take a deep breath and smile!! This is what you have been waiting on.  Enjoy your day and congratulations!
